Morning,
Well today things are going to be a bit different. The last few Scrolls have made everyone real sad it seems, so the gang in the WhatsApp group suggested I do something less sad today. So today will be media heavy, with lots of links to uplifting and inspiring schizo video edits. You’ll notice many are from the same guy, the reason is simple, he’s very good at it. The prevalence of cliff jumping clips is because that’s something he does. The amount of Gladiator and Troy clips speak for themselves. You will need the sound on, preferably at decent volume.
If you’re thinking ‘schizo what?’ Then you must have missed a Scroll where I gave a brief intro to them earlier in the year. They are primarily a Millennial to Gen Z phenomenon and have a largely male focus, basically because it tends to be guys that make them. The intent of them is to reach something primal in you, to remind you of the vibrancy and vitality of life in its purest form, a mainline to the harsh reality of the world. They unashamedly feature female and male beauty, athleticism, aesthetics, strength, nature, skill, violence, duty, danger, death, consequence and meaning. They consist of short clips from documentaries, artwork, films, speeches and anime, edited together in lightning fashion, soundtracked to energetic music and often narrations. When you first see them you may think what’s this bollocks? Because they are very on the nose, and may be considered cheesey or even childish. I’d argue you have to set that initial reaction aside and just go with them. They intend to distill a feeling that many people will only get watching a film, of connection to a character and their story, into a few intense minutes. A good example is Gladiator. Men connect with this film because in Maximus we see something we recognise inside us and are drawn to that doesn’t seem possible in the modern world. That’s why you feel sort of silly when you find yourself as a grown man getting goosebumps or feeling inspired watching something like these schizo edits, it feels beyond this day and age, you should grow up and get back to work. But you shouldn’t. Man’s surroundings have changed along with his general circumstance, but he hasn’t. There is good reason why many of us would choose adventure and potential death over the security of a desk, it’s fire within you still.
One thing to make clear about them, if BBC verify checked your internet history and saw you’d been watching them you’d be going straight to Hitler jail. Often the speeches and narrations are from people the mainstream absolutely considers far right. The themes they feature do not exist on the left, it would be impossible for someone left of centre to make one. The reason for that is simple, all factors on the list I mentioned earlier - female and male beauty, athleticism, strength, nature, skill, violence, duty, danger, death, consequence and meaning - are things to be avoided on the left. They will tell you that being obese is beautiful, that you can be fat and healthy. It’s not and you can’t. Strength and skill take discipline and effort. Duty means doing things you must even if they lead to your personal situation getting worse. Those things are to be avoided on the left because why should you? You might be hurt or die? It fundamentally does not compute to them that a short and meaningful life in the search of greatness and to fulfil your potential might be more desirable to some people than a long grey existence of safety.
Many of the quotes and imagery (you’ll see the same ones repeated) obviously come from a time long past, where life in many ways was unrecognisable from the modern world in terms of what was expected of a person, desirable in terms of pursuit, valued in terms of quality, but was closer to what comes naturally to humans and more in line with reality itself. It’s this focus on what is natural and vital that is being attacked in your day to day life and once you realise this, it’s obvious you’re being deliberately neutered to make you fit in a generic and interchangeable box, easy to manage. That neutring has largely worked, the mental pushback you get when you feel something from watching these edits is is just that, so you must ignore it. You might also begin to question why considering the present and future our leaders have in mind for us, anyone in the past who recognised the truth of all of this, is now vilified and smeared through association in any way our modern thought leaders can.
Now I’m obviously not suggesting that we all don greek armour and start raiding foreign lands - although I would be up for normalising the wearing of capes - but it’s about adopting a mindset encompassing all that you see in these edits and the sources they come from and taking that into modern life however you can, and that’s a fight in itself. We are in dark times, as are many of the characters you see and read about that inspire you. But you’re inspired by them because they chose a course of action they believe in, true to themselves regardless of cost. They chose the fight. Your life is yours, but personally I choose not to bend to the bug man. I will attempt to do what I believe to be best for those I care about regardless of what I’m told I must by people who would do me harm and maybe there are consequences for that. So be it. This is the harder more fulfilling path.
