Morning, there’s a was a nice response from yesterdays ranty piece. It wasn’t intended to be that, but it looks like quite a few people got something positive out of it. It’s Sunday so may be a bit shorter, we’ll see.
I’d like to think the footage above has been all over mainstream media, I don’t watch so I don’t know, perhaps it has. But, to I don’t think anyones heres surprise, it turns out that the incident preceding these turds getting arrested shows them to be guilty of assaulting armed Police Officers and the weasel who got his head stomped is the main offender. I think considering the context, to include the Police being armed, you can understand the reaction of the Policeman who kicked him. Do I think he lost his head a bit, yeah probably, should he have kicked and stamped the guys head, no I don’t think so seeing as he’d been tasered and was face down on the floor. Of course if this is the US the guy getting a kick to the head is a dead man, shot multiple times before it gets this far, so in that frame this Officer actually showed restraint. The reality is he ended up getting a kick to the head because he attacked Police, so fuck him, no sympathy.
This is correct though and there should certainly be questions asked about why this wasn’t out almost immediately as it was certainly available. Takes 2 seconds to walk to the CCTV office and get it. If I was Yvette Cooper I’d have had this on my desk prior to making any statement, that she didn’t either shows incompetency, or should it be a cause for concern in the Police.
Guy is an idiot, but he’s correct here. Easy optics win for Reform.
This seems very odd to me, why would you seek not to implement and actually repeal policy that ensures free speech. I chucked the act into Venice.ai which is an open source ai and got it to summarise for me:
The Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act 2023, if implemented, aimed to significantly alter the landscape of free speech within universities in the United Kingdom. The legislation was designed to:
Strengthen existing legal duties: Universities would be required to take "all reasonable steps" to protect freedom of speech on campus by ensuring that lawful political and ideological beliefs are not stifled or discriminated against.
Introduce a statutory duty of care: Publicly funded universities and students' unions would face potential liability for damages if they prevented someone from speaking due to their beliefs, unless the speaker posed a genuine risk to others. This would allow individuals whose freedom of speech was restricted to seek compensation in court.
Create an "Academic Bill of Rights": Universities would be required to incorporate an academic bill of rights into their governing documents, which would enshrine freedom of speech as a fundamental principle within the institution.
However, concerns were raised about the potential impact on student welfare, particularly regarding:
Harassment and intimidation: Critics argued that the Act could inadvertently protect harassment or hate speech, leading to an unsafe environment for certain students.
Chilling effect on free speech: Some worried that the legislation might discourage students from speaking freely out of fear of legal repercussions or retribution.
Misuse by right-wing groups: There were concerns that the Act could be exploited by far-right organizations seeking to promote hate speech and incite violence.
As a result, the implementation of the Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act 2023 has been halted for further review and consultation. The government is now considering alternative measures to protect freedom of speech while ensuring student safety and promoting an inclusive learning environment.
When I read the concerns, all that comes across to me is, we’re concerned that there might ACTUALLY BE FREE SPEECH 😂. It’s a big problem this, because much of what passes for ‘hate speech’ is actually perfectly legal. The creation of ‘non-crime hate incident’ are just a way of censoring free speech and thought. There’s also this strange thing that seems to have drifted into normality, that being ‘right wing’ is somehow evil, illegal or bad in some way. Just as very left wing thought may be unpalatable to some, you are allowed to hold those views. It is the same for very right wing thought, you might not like it, but it’s not illegal to think those things. Hate speech only seems to go one way, particularly on University campus’s.
Presented for Hugh 👀
They won’t give Elon this win until there's a genuine threat to life, which if you’re the astronauts who are totally not stranded in space, might lick you out a bit.
