Firstly something to put in the diary for tomorrow morning if you’re traveling or at a loose end. We’re going to try a new method of doing Horizon Scan where we do it live and broadcast to multiple platforms. We trialled this the other day and it worked ok, bar some delay between the various platforms. If you’re interested in just watching then you’ll be able to find the broadcast on YouTube, X and Instagram. If you’re interested in being a part of the broadcast and want to use the chat to drop comments live that we’ll try and respond to I’d suggest watching on YouTube. You can still drop comments to Instagram and X, but we won’t be tracking them live, so we’ll be unlikely to respond in real time. The recording will start at 09:00 UK tomorrow morning. If we have signal issues then we’ll just drop Instagram and X and just use YouTube. I’m not going to labour this point too much, but here’s your in the face indicator that what I’ve been talking about is indeed the plan. Those who helped put Trump in power, are going to use the same playbook in the UK, but with Farage as Trump. Will it be better than what we have now, for most people, yeah probably -can’t get much worse can it! Will it mean the UK looking after its own interests to the exclusion of all other Nations, nope, blood and treasure will just get chucked at sand again.
I’ve discussed on Horizon scan before that I’m not sure the death penalty is a real punishment, even if you did it in a painful way it’s just acute pain then black screen, a fairly easy way out. A real deterrent would be medievel in nature. A cell not wide enough to lie down in and not high enough to stand up in with no light source. You get a subsistence diet chucked through a slit a couple of times a day and that’s it. In the box, until you die. That’s a real deterrent and wouldn’t cost too much. However, would I rather have these two alive in some way at the cost for 40 million quid that could fix some potholes, or just kill them and chuck them I the bin? Bin. Obviously if you’re going to do this you need a few years worth of jail time just to get appeals etc done in case there’s an error, but with cases such as this, we don’t need these people. A quick summary of what happened here: Sara was a 10 year old girl who was abused and effectively tortured for years until her Father and Stepmother murdered her. She suffered over 70 external injuries and more than 100 internal and external injuries, including burns, fractures, bruising, and bite marks. Her Father said she was beaten for misbehaving but there was no intention to kill her. They left a note with her body to that effect and legged it to Pakistan. There’s no extradition from Pakistan to the UK, but I get the sense that once they realised they weren’t going to get an easy ride from the Pakistanis - likely due to UK pressure - they figured they’d get better treatment in the UK. Sara was known to social services and her injuries were noted at school. She even entered foster care twice, but was returned by the court to her Father’s custody, despite social services informing them of his history of violent abuse. Call me a cynic but it’s difficult to think that ethnicity played no part here. In the same way that we saw what happened in Rochdale played down due to fears about community tensions and negative perception of cultural practices, what’s the likelihood that the Judge who made this decision was either of a similar cultural background, or wasn’t but was concerned about community tensions or offense. We’ll never know though, as they were granted anonymity…
