Morning, as usual on Sunday I’ll try to keep if brief and with less misery 👀.

If you’ve been around here a while then you should be fairly clear on my view about the war in Ukraine. That view wasn’t immediate, it took a couple of months for me to realise what was going on, but at least we now have this weasel laying it out. There are almost always multiple angles to this stuff and the initial reasons for things happening don’t always end up being the reasons they continue, but with my dusty old brain, broadly it seems to be it’s been about:
Russia taking back land they believe is historically theirs.
NATO expansion.
Destabilising and weakening Russia with a view to potential regime change and mineral wealth control.
Removing fighting age males from Ukraine, weakening it, creating a population issue and the requirement for immigration.
Setting the conditions for the US to need to rebuild Ukraine, enabling a more credible enduring US presence there.
Keeping the military industrial complex machine running.
Using the above and other direct funding to launder money from US tax payers back to US business and elite power interests.
Ensuring the security of US funded Ukrainian bio labs.
Control of Ukraines’ mineral wealth and agriculture.
Continuing destabilisation of Europe as an effective competitor.
One thing it has fuck all to do with, is the Ukrainian people’s best interests.
