Morning, I hope everyone is having a nice Sunday. A touch of admin first, if you’ve signed up or upgraded to paid and the WhatsApp link for the group chat isn’t working just drop me a comment or message on here and I’ll sort it for you. Seems to be working for some and not others so it might not be my admin that’s the issue this time. For the NOT A CULT guys, if you’ve not dropped me a message with your address then it’d be good to do that early this week as we’re going to get the SEG challenge coins sent out. This place is growing quite nicely since the price drop, so thanks to anyone who’s recently joined or shared to someone who has. Please spread the word, as along with obviously keeping me supplied with eggs and providing a safety net for if Sin Eaters Guild catches the eye of Sauron and gets binned, it also serves as a community and information passing node outside of normie world.
As it’s Sunday we’ll try and keep it light and short, if possible 😅
Well maybe not, let’s start with a definition of something new, along with one that I’ve spoken about before.
The friend-enemy distinction, as articulated by the German philosopher Carl Schmitt in his 1927 book "The Concept of the Political," refers to the idea that politics is fundamentally about identifying friends and enemies. In times of crisis or conflict, political leaders may resort to authoritarian measures to protect their nation or regime from perceived threats.
Anarcho-tyranny is a concept, where the state is argued to be more interested in controlling citizens so that they do not oppose the managerial class (tyranny) rather than controlling real criminals (causing anarchy). Laws are argued to be enforced only selectively, depending on what is perceived to be beneficial for the ruling elite.
Doesn’t that all sound rather familiar? In an anarcho-tyranny, the friend-enemy distinction can manifest in a unique and insidious way. This form of governance, characterised by arbitrary rule by those who hold power, creates an environment where previously established lines between friends and enemies, so - law abiding citizens and criminals, is blurred.
