Happy Sunday,
I think this is accurate. That’s not me denying that cyber warfare isn’t a thing, I’d imagine it’s a constant back and forth. I’m also not denying that one of the countries we likely go back forth with is Russia. However with Russia being the bogey man of the moment and the energy security of the UK being sabotaged by our own environmental ideologues, I think it’s far more likely that the explanation for power cuts is ‘the bad Russia man did it’, than ‘sorry, our policies were a fantasy’. If GCHQ, NCSC and NCF can’t protect our power grid against cyber attack, what are they for?
This is one of those things that I wonder whether it’s always been like this really, but no one paid any attention to it because it wasn’t highlighted to us constantly as a problem. It just went as read that because you moved in particular circles that you’d likely end up with someone who was probably not too far away from you politically.
I think this is interesting though, it being a problem seems to be far more of an issue for those on the left than the right. Right leaning people are more likely to discriminate more when it’s more intimate/proximate relationships that would probably be harder to tolerate, but aren’t bothered so much in daily life. Those who’ve read The Scroll for a while will know my wife is the complete opposite to me politically - although there have been glimpses of cracks appearing in her worldview recently - it’s not easy and if I’m being completely honest, were we to split and I was looking for someone else, I’d be far more likely to take political worldview seriously as a compatibility factor. It’s good not to be in an echo chamber, but if the distance is too large every conversation can become a minefield.
I can’t deny that this would be funny, but it’s still not the wisest thing long term as gives more ammunition to Elon’s detractors in terms of his influence.
I think Ben is right here and it’s why I shared the petition. I don’t think it’s going to do anything, it’ll be ignored, but it’ll serve as another signal of the public’s contempt for Starmer and the current government. It’s not going to lead to another election and may not lead to anything at all in terms of action, but it contributes to zeitgeist. There’s downsides of course, if it doesn’t get to numbers higher than those won by Starmer’s party then it effectively is a very public loss and will be spun that way. It also serves to distract from the Rachel Reeves stuff.
I don’t know if there’s anything larger plan wise than this is linked to, but it seems DC has chosen the attack point he feels is most effective. He’s been boosting this account and similar connected new ones for the past 24hrs. Crime is a good catch all because it manages to encapsulate lots of other issues whilst sidestepping going for them directly, which makes it harder to attack as a focus by those in opposition. Immigration, culture differences, policing, rule of law, economic effects, house prices - all can be represented through focusing on crime, something that’s a completely reasonable expectation to be against and to want reducing. It’s also something acute that many people with have first hand experience of. You may not be able to explain with a mic in your face why you think illegal immigration is a problem for economic reasons, but if the perpetrator of a crime against you or someone you know was an illegal immigrant you can tell your story, it cuts through. Simple things like this are why DC is so effective. Worth keeping an eye on who he’s boosting and subjects he’s drawing attention to if you want to spot chess pieces being moved.
I’ll finish by talking briefly about what I think is going on with power movements behind the scenes in the UK politics wise. There’s a few accounts I follow that have said similar and I’ve found a lot of it fairly persuasive. There have been some odd mainstream news stories over the past few days talking about whether Labour can turn things around and what the alternative is, the odd thing though is that Farage has been the person put forward as a potential alternative, not Badenoch or the Tories in general, this stood out to me. This combined with Elon’s network of accounts taking specific interest in the UK and boosting stories detrimental to Starmer and also those helpful for Farage, makes me think it’s possible the same group behind helping Trump get to power now have their eyes on the UK. I don’t have eyes on Europe properly so I can’t be confident about whether it’s similar over there. This power struggle is one for ideological influence and to choose the direction of major Western nations. It’s the Globalists vs Zionists and I’ll drop my usual caveat that this isn’t bond villain stuff and these are not set sides with set players. Many people will happily swap priorities dependant on the circumstances and these power factions are not always in opposition. It’s human nature and in-group preference but displayed at scale by very influential people. In the US we just saw the defeat of the Globalists in the form of Biden (Obama) Democrats, to be replaced by the MAGA Trump Republicans, backed by Zionists. The UK has been controlled by Globalists since at least 1997 and the Zionist lobby has far less influence here, although obviously not zero at all. I think there’s been a conversation between Farage and the Trump administration/backers about the best way to go about obtaining similar influence in the UK and either helping to remove the current government early or to lock in a win at the next general election. This is one of the potential reasons that Farage has been mirroring Trump’s positions in turn, but with a British flavour. Don’t get too excited though because this all still amounts to containment and it’s a very good example of what that is. Labour and the Tories are both left of center parties, Reform is right of center if you’re being very lenient. The closest thing to a right wing party the UK has currently is the Homeland Party, but they’re new and tiny. Reform only seem like they’re a right leaning party in relation to where we have been for 20/30 years and particularly where we now are with Labour going full class war, destroy the Kulaks, jail your political enemies. Although Zionism is generally thought of a being coded to the right, it’s only in their interests to go so far to the right because of fears about mid century Germany and other elements of the right gaining too much influence. Reform is about the limit allowable, feels right wing in relation to the far left, is actually central. Is this positive? Well it really depends on your view of what ‘victory’ looks like. If you just want to get back to ‘normal’ where normal means no more gay race communism, then yeah it’s probably a positive thing. If you want the UK to define its own destiny aside from the influences of outside parties or at least make steps towards that, then no it’s not that positive. But assuming you’re a similar age to me, 44 (I think), then the times when Britain controlled its own interests without any outside influence ended prior to you being born, so perhaps that old normal is the best you can hope for. I’m not sure it should be though. The reality to note is that by getting a right of center party in at the next election, whether that’s Reform or some horrible Tory/Reform hybrid, the vast majority of the populace will feel like they’ve won and will stop pining for something genuinely right wing and nationalist in nature - ie. they’ve been contained within acceptable boundaries which can then be moved slowly away from the extremities over time.
Yay.
Enjoy the rest of you Sunday.
