Has there ever been a more obvious symptom of decline and a problem being ignored than this. You should absolutely know how to do this stuff, but you also absolutely shouldn’t have to, completely pathetic. I actually asked my brother the other day after the Southport murders, did his kids (5 & 7) know what to do if that happened and how to stop bleeds? Mental that it even comes to mind.
This surprised me when I saw it last night as it was the first time I could see something happening somewhere I knew well. In case you weren’t aware, Llantwit Major is basically where SFSG are based. It’s always referred to as St Athan because it’s at RAF/MOD St Athan, but that’s the opposite side of the camp see below.
Circled is the SFSG camp and it’s about a 15 minute walk from the front gate to Llantwit town, about a mile and half. It is a TINY place, a really old town with a very quiet unassuming vibe, lots of pensioners. Because guys on camp have been deployed pretty much constantly since 2006, there’s a always very few of them around, it’s not like Colchester where you have blokes en masse, plus we try to carry ourselves differently anyway because of the job, obviously everyone knows who you are, but you don’t take the piss. I really don’t understand why you would build something like this in such an unsuitable place - that’s if we’re accepting anywhere is suitable, which I’m not. A few hundred asylum seekers will decimate this town. The actual town centre is absolutely tiny, pretty much one street and there’s nothing else around for miles, nowhere is walkable. It’s 7-8 miles to Barry and along a B road with no pedestrian footpath, just under 20 to Cardiff. These guys will basically be trapped milling around, bored and bothering the locals. Then throw into that any sketchy behaviour, there’s a primary school, and you can guarantee the blokes will end up filling some of them in, which has potential to go bigger than Ben Hurr and get them binned out of the unit. I’d be amazed if there hadn’t been very loud objections to siting this here from the headshed on camp. I think it was originally sold as for Ukrainians, but it’s still a terrible thing to do to such a small place. And we know this is happening all over the UK and Ireland. Remember, nobody voted for this, they actively voted against it.
