The overall disinterest of the average person is a major factor in how the country got to the position it is currently in. When you look at the two major UK political parties (currently, that could change in the next 10 years quite drastically) they have become so close that the general public can’t see the point in engaging with politics (I’m experiencing this personally going door to door)
Another factor is people not understanding the levels of government. Local borough councillors being told they won’t vote because the government won’t change is something I’ve heard regularly!! Very frustrating when you want to see positive local change.
Great to have your experience as someone who's walking the walk. I think the public has to realise the power there is in doing things locally. It's their best chance to see positive change.
Interested to hear your thoughts on todays episode.
I agree with you both, the current system doesn’t encourage political engagement my the masses (this is a double edged sword in my personal opinion) voting turn out is important as it helps establish the true feeling of the nation about the political direction the majority of the popular want. However we (as voters) need to be better informed and aware of the consequences of our vote placement). I’ve always voted for xxxxx isn’t good enough we need voters to hold politicians to account for the decisions they make and the motions they support.
As voters/general public we must act more responsibly with the services and provision we already have, we have become a wasteful society and this needs to change if we want to see improvements in service provision NHS/Policing and emergency services down to not dropping litter fly tipping.
While politics is in a strange place right now so is society
Do you think the Rich just adapt to the different parties that are coming in though? So they don’t give a fuck. Like they’ll steer whatever parties is in best they can to what they want then when they see the ships sinking prepare for the next one and who they can get to do what they want in that one?
Hugh, I am one on the “DROSS” 😂
Gaz, Hugh

Liked your bit on 🇨🇭direct democracy. My Mrs just had her postal vote through on the latest referendum so it gets pushed out to 🇨🇭abroad also.
That's mega, good to know. Certainly feels like it's a method worth looking more at.
Oh bring back the live chats from time to time so we can all wade in on the conversation
